Cookies and Kindness: Making World Kindness Day That Much Sweeter

This November 13, 2022, is World Kindness Day, a day to spread positivity, kindness, and joy around the world, and that’s exactly what we intend to do!

World Kindness Day was first introduced in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement and resulted from a convention held in Japan on November 13, 1997. In Japan, they pledged to “join together to build a kinder and more compassionate world,” spurring the launch of World Kindness Day the following year. Since then, World Kindness Day has grown in popularity, with many countries celebrating it annually.

Here at Kirshenbaum Baking Co., we believe everyone should give and receive kindness daily, so World Kindness Day is the perfect place to start. The purpose of World Kindness Day, according to the World Kindness Movement, is “to highlight good deeds in the community focusing on the positive power and the common thread of kindness which binds us.” It is a day to celebrate acts of kindness, encouraging people to do what they can to help others and build a network of pay-it-forward goodwill gestures that make our communities stronger.

The world may be big, but it doesn’t take much to spread kindness. Every person participating in World Kindness Day positively impacts the overall effect it has globally, no matter the size of the act.

What World Kindness Day Means to Us

Without the need to spread love, kindness, and joy to all those we love during the pandemic, Kirshenbaum Baking Co. wouldn’t exist. Because of our family’s love and desire to spread kindness wherever and however we can, we were able to grow from an online cookie delivery business to opening our own bakery.

We started our cookie delivery business to spread kindness across the country to friends and family we couldn’t see in person. Now, we get to spread that same kindness on an even bigger scale to our incredible customers and community. Ultimately, it is a choice to spread kindness, and we choose to spread joy every day in the form of our sweet and savory treats jam-packed with love from our family to yours.

World Kindness Day is all about acknowledging and appreciating the seemingly small or simple acts of kindness others do for us and paying them forward to help another person. This Day should inspire the world to do better, even if only for a day. What matters most is how our individual acts of kindness made on this day will carry over to the other 364 days of the year, creating a lasting impact that makes a difference.

How We Are Celebrating World Kindness Day
